A thunderstorm with large hail and damaging winds began affecting Fluvanna county around 400 PM EDT. At the Courthouse Green complex, three county owned vehicles were damaged when a large tree fell across them. Six windows at a county office building were damaged by golf ball size hail; eighteen other windows were broken in Pleasant Grove. Numerous trees were blown down in the county, including one which blocked Route 53 for a short time, causing a traffic accident. A trained weather spotter reported one inch diameter hail falling in Palmyra at 410 PM EDT. Newspaper reports indicate hail damage to vehicles was widespread across the county.
