A slow moving thunderstorm containing heavy rainfall, large hail, and winds in excess of 55 MPH moved across a portion of the Shenandoah Valley during the afternoon of the 13th. In Albemarle County, quarter sized hail fell and trees and chimneys were downed in Crozet. In Greene County, 1.82 inches of rain fell in Standardsville. In Madison County, 1.55 inches of rain fell into a gauge along the Rapidan River on Route 29. In Warren County, 1.35 inches of rain was recorded at Chester Gap.
