A series of thunderstorms with very heavy rain caused some urban and poor drainage flooding in Philadelphia during the evening of the 18th. The Frankford Creek at Castor Avenue briefly crested above its 7 foot flood stage from 9 p.m. until 9.30 pm EDT. It crested at 7.4 feet. Around 11 p.m. EDT the Pennypack Creek at the Lower Rhawn Street Bridge crested at 5.8 feet. No flood stage has been established for this creek. Doppler radar storm total estimates reached close to two inches in the headwaters of the Pennypack and Frankford Creeks. Actual storm totals included 1.76 inches at the Franklin Institute, 1.46 inches at the Northeast Philadelphia Airport and 1.01 inches at the Philadelphia International Airport.
