Wildfire in Oklahoma, September 8 to 19, 2000
A very large wild fire started near the Carter/Murray county line on the 8th and spread northward into the Arbuckle Mountains in western Murray County, eventually reaching southern Garvin County. Approximately 11,500 acres of land burned, most in the Arbuckles, which took almost two weeks to extinguish.

Approximately 11,500 acres of land burned, most in the Arbuckles, which took almost two weeks to extinguish. An estimated 6 homes and 1 business were also destroyed.
