Summary of winter weather on December 12-13 2000.A powerful winter storm developed over the Southern Plains and produced a mixture of snow...sleet and freezing rain. The precipitation was mostly snow in parts of Northeast Oklahoma near and to the north of Interstate 44. A mixture of sleet, snow and some freezing rain fell between Interstate 44 and Interstate 40 in East Central Oklahoma. Across Southeast Oklahoma the precipitation was mainly sleet and freezing rain. The icing was significant enough in the far Southeast Oklahoma counties of Pushmataha and Choctaw that 5,000 customers of Choctaw Electric were without power on December 13.
