Damaging Winds and Lightning Strike in North Carolina, July 7, 2000
A large severe thunderstom moved south along the I-77 corridor shortly after midnight, producing a swath of wind damage through Iredell county. Numerous downed trees were reported with a couple of trees causing extensive damage to two houses in Troutman.

A large severe thunderstom moved south along the I-77 corridor shortly after midnight, producing a swath of wind damage through Iredell county. Numerous downed trees were reported with a couple of trees causing extensive damage to two houses in Troutman. Lightning struck an apartment complex in Charlotte and caused a fire which destroyed the roof of one building. Fourteen people were left homeless.
