A severe thunderstorm knocked down numerous large tree limbs and power lines across central Warren County. The worst damage occurred in Hackettstown and Oxford Townships. In Hackettstown, a child was injured by a fallen tree branch. In Oxford Township, numerous limbs were knocked down. They forced the closure of U.S. Route 46. The severe thunderstorms caused 84,000 homes and businesses to lose power throughout the northern half of New Jersey; 60,000 of the outages occurred in Warren, Sussex, Morris and Hunterdon Counties. All power was restored by the 5th.
