Thunderstorms with torrential downpours drifted very slowly southeast across eastern Monmouth County. This caused flash flooding in and around Neptune. Doppler Radar storm total estimates reached between 2.0 and 2.5 inches. In Neptune both New Jersey State Route 35 and Third Avenue were closed. Cars were submerged to near their tops. Several secondary roads were flooded and closed also. A couple of businesses suffered flood damage. No serious injuries were reported.
