A frontal boundary stalled to the south of the region. Southerly winds ahead of the front pumped hot and humid air northward into the region. Temperatures topped out in the lower to middle 90s. These hot temperatures combined with high humidity resulted in dangerous heat indices of 105 to 115 degrees during the afternoon.
