A powerful severe thunderstorm damaged about a dozen homes in the Bay City area of Kent Island. Damage occurred to homes right along the Chesapeake Bay and on nearby side streets. Three families were displaced. Two had large trees on their roofs. The other had its porch ripped away. The 2 by 4s from the ripped porch, impaled the house. Numerous trees one to two feet in diameter and over 100 years old were either snapped or uprooted. Numerous poles were also knocked down.There were two separate measurements of wind gusts to around 100 mph. A SKYWARN Spotter measured a peak wind gust of 103 mph.
