Heavy Snow in Maine, January 16, 2000
Low pressure moving eastward from southern Quebec moved into the Gulf of Maine and intensified rapidly bringing the first major winter storm of the season to much of northern New England. Snowfall amounts in western and central Maine ranged from 5 to 10 inches in the mountains and 4 to 8 inches across the remainder of the area, except in York County where 3 to 6 inches of snow fell.
