Thunderstorms with heavy rain moved back over areas that were saturated from previous thunderstorms over the past few days. Radar estimated rainfall rates of up to one inch per hour. Storm spotters reported water across State Highway 80 in Calloway County. Sheriff deputies reported water across Highway 641 north and Highway 121 north near Murray. Some flooding of farm fields and low-lying areas was observed. An agricultural extension agent estimated 10 percent of the Calloway County wheat crop was affected by standing water, disease, and wind damage. Nearly 20 percent of a 4,000 acre farm was located on bottomlands that were severely flooded. Farmers were expected to replant thousands of acres of crops that were under water for 24 hours or more. The total rainfall from May 23 to 27 was around 10 inches in Calloway County.
