Several road closures were necessary in Paducah due to heavy rain. The normally flood-prone areas on Buckner Lane and Jackson Street were closed. The flooding was caused by an east-west band of thunderstorms that moved east over Paducah for several hours. At the National Weather Service office at Barkley Field, near Paducah, about 4 inches of rain fell between 6 A.M. and noon. Until this heavy rain event, it appeared Paducah was on track for one of its driest Julys on record. The rain was much-needed and soaked into the ground unusually quickly.
