Minor flooding again developed over parts of the Cedar River Basin from June 9 through the 12th. Moderate to heavy rainfall moved across the region, causing the Winnebago, West Fork Cedar, and eventually the Cedar at Waterloo to exceed their flood stages. Initial River forecast Center forecasts indicated the possibility of moderate flooding, especially on the Winnebago at Mason City, but the crest was less than a foot over flood stage on the 11th. Widely scattered thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall were observed during the early morning hours of June 12, with a particularly heavy cell over the Marshalltown area in the Iowa River Basin. The cooperative observer reported 3.80 inches of rain, most of which fell in only a few hours. An Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory was issued at 0550 CST, as law enforcement reported street flooding. These rains also prompted the issuance of a River Statement for the Iowa River at Marshalltown.
