A cool high pressure area passed to the northeast of Iowa during the day on the 16th. Meanwhile, low pressure formed to the southwest. A strong push of warm and humid air moved into Iowa with dew points in the mid 70s F. moving into the southwest part of the state. A warm front extended northwest to southeast across the state during the evening. Thunderstorms erupted north of the warm front. Most of the storms were not severe, however gusty winds were reported with many of them. One of the storms produced winds around 65 MPH winds northeast of Corwith in Hancock County. The winds destroyed a grain bin and blew it across the field and also caused considerable tree damage. Another storm had earlier produced winds of 65 MPH in Winnebago County, causing damage to a golf country club near Buffalo Center.
