Tornado and Damaging Winds in Illinois, September 11, 2000

Trees and power lines were blown down across the area as a result of straight line winds.

Trees were blown down in the area, including a 6 to 7 inch diameter tree down over Airport Road, near Rushville.

A small tornado touched down 2.5 miles northeast of St. Augustine. It moved through some corn fields, flattening them, before lifting 3 miles east of St. Augustine. No damage occurred to any structures, trees or power lines. No injuries were reported. Wind estimates were between 60 and 65 miles per hour, classifying it as an F-0 on the Fujita scale.

Straight line winds blew down a few trees in the area, as well as bending over a stop sign pole 45 degrees.

A corn field was damaged in the area as a result of straight line winds.

A tree was blown down, as well as some tree limbs and power lines.

Reports of 60 mile per hour or greater wind gusts were reported across the area. Numerous trees and power lines were reported down in Pekin. A construction trailer was blown over and traveled some 100 feet from its original location. A large construction sign at the Pekin Energy plant, made of steel and brick, was partially blown over. No injuries were reported and no damage estimates were available.

Several large trees were blown down at a campground one mile east of Secor.

A 12 inch diameter tree was blown down onto power lines in Lincoln. Four miles southeast of Lincoln, an 18 inch diameter tree was blown down onto a house. Several tree limbs were blown down onto power lines in San Jose. No damage estimates were available and no injuries were reported.
