The earlier round of thunderstorms had weakened and shifted east of the area. Other strong to severe thunderstorms erupted during the afternoon over Southeast Iowa, Northeast Missouri and West Central Illinois as a Mesoscale Convectively induced Vorticity Maxima, from earlier thunderstorms in the plains, tracked eastward. Heavy rain, falling on already saturated ground, resulted in urban and small stream flooding in a few areas. Severe winds toppled power poles, lines and several trees over portions of Whiteside County. Trees were also toppled in Rock Island and Mercer Counties.
