Heavy rainfall of 3 to 6 inches on June 12 caused flooding of the Rock River basin on the 13th and 14th. In Boone County, the Kishwukee River flooded park land, farm land, secondary roads and campgrounds. The Rock River crested 2.7 feet above flood stage at Rockton. Communities from Rockton to Rockford including Machesney and Roscoe Township suffered flooding. In Machesney Park, 180 homes were damaged and 12 to 14 families were evacuated. In Ogle County, 50 homes were flooded. As many as 60 residents were forced to evacuate. In Lee County, parks and the high school grounds were flooded in Dixon.
