Flash Flood in Delaware, March 28, 2000
A cold front with weak waves of low pressure riding north along it brought heavy rain to northern Delaware during the the late evening of the 27th and the early morning of the 28th. While storm totals were nowhere near the levels set the previous week, the ground was still saturated and rivers and creeks rose quickly.

A cold front with weak waves of low pressure riding north along it brought heavy rain to northern Delaware during the the late evening of the 27th and the early morning of the 28th. While storm totals were nowhere near the levels set the previous week, the ground was still saturated and rivers and creeks rose quickly. The Christina River at Coochs Bridge reached its 9 foot flood stage at midnight EST on the 28th, it crested at 10.7 feet at 315 a.m. EST on the 28th and was back within bankfull at 6 a.m. EST on the 28th. Storm totals averaged around 1.25 inches and included 1.37 inches in Newark, 1.27 inches in West Chester (Chester County Pennsylvania), 1.18 inches in Chadds Ford (Delaware County Pennsylvania), 1.08 inches in Crum Creek (Delaware County Pennsylvania) and 1.03 inches at the New Castle County Airport. No serious damage or injuries were reported.
