Modified arctic air continued to move southwestward toward Cook Inlet Monday and Tuesday. Brisk northeast wind gusts reached, then exceeded, 60 mph around the Matanuska River just after noon Monday. Peak winds of 64 mph were recorded between 8 pm and 8:30 pm Monday. Wind gusts diminished below 60 mph by 8 am Tuesday.
