Flash Flood, Copper River Basin

Two lakes at the headwaters of the Tazlina River, dammed by the Tazlina Glacier, likely released sometime between August 5 and August 9. On Thursday, August 10, the Tazlina River began rising at the Richardson Highway Bridge. By Saturday morning, August 12, water levels had risen over 4 feet. Water levels crested Saturday night, then dropped 0.7 feet by Sunday morning. Minor flooding was observed.
