A thunderstorm that developed over extreme southeastern Hockley County intensified as it moved very slowly northeast toward west-central Lubbock County. As it approached the county line southwest of Reese Center, the storm developed a strong anticyclonic mid-level rotation. Hail up to the size of golfballs was reported at the Reese Center golf course. A damage survey indicated a considerable amount of tree damage with leaves and limbs shredded but little to no property damage. The storm was rather short-lived, lasting about 45 minutes.
