Early morning thunderstorms in the Grande Ronde valley produced frequent lightning and small hail. 800 customers in the towns of Elgin, Summerville and Imbler lost power for several hours. Two costly fires were started by lightning...one of which was a house fire which damaged a home in Imbler. The second fire started in a haystack and caused 46 thousand dollars worth of damage.
