Summary of events for September 10 1999:Severe thunderstorms developed early on the afternoon of Sept. 10 as warm, moist low-level air returned following several days of cooler, drier weather. Severe weather initially developed over the Tulsa metro area with the emphasis shifting south to Haskell County by early evening. The afternoon convection then left an outflow boundary over northcentral Oklahoma that was the focus for more severe thunderstorms as an upper level disturbance approached in the evening. This second round of storms slipped southeast along the outflow boundary from Pawnee County to Okfuskee County. The worst storm of the day was the last storm of the day...a supercell that moved east-southeast along the outflow boundary in Okfuskee County, producing a damaging tornado, damaging baseball-sized hail, and 80 mph winds.

There were several reports of large hail from near downtown Tulsa to the midtown area...they are:Time (CDT) Location Size155 PM Harvard and BA Expwy .75"200 PM 31st St. S. and Yale .88"220 PM 11th St. S. and Yale .88"
There were numerous reports of strong winds in southcentral and southeast Tulsa. The worst damage was centered near 91st Street South and Memorial. Following is a summary of individual reports...At 200 PM CDT, there was a gust to 70 mph at 71st Street South and Lewis. At 204 PM CDT, there was a gust to 70 mph at 71st Street South and Memorial. At 212 PM CDT, there was a gust to 60 mph at 81st Street South and Memorial. At 216 PM CDT, there was a gust to 70 mph at 71st Street South and Mingo. Large tree limbs were blown down throughout the southern part of the city of Tulsa roughly south of 51st Street South. However, numerous trees were blown down along 91st Street South between Memorial and Mingo, including one large tree that blocked 91st Street for several hours.
There were several reports of large hail along the 81st Street corridor in southeast Tulsa and western Broken Arrow. At 212 PM CDT, there was a report of nickel-sized hail at 81st Street South and Memorial in Tulsa. At 220 PM CDT, there was a report of dime-sized hail at 81st Street South and 125th East Avenue in Broken Arrow.

A tree was blown onto a house in Coweta. Winds also toppled an extensive speaker system at the grandstand of an outdoor festival in Coweta, destroying the speakers.
Large tree limbs were blown down.
There was a report of 2.5" hail northwest of Bristow, and there was another report of 1" hail in Bristow.
Trees were blown down north of Paden.
An F1 tornado touched down about 3 miles north of Castle, travelling approximately 3.5 miles southeast before lifting about 2 miles east of Castle. Along the way, this storm completely ripped the roof from one permanent wood-frame house about 2 miles northeast of Castle, and it blew the roof off of a mobile home located on OK Hwy 48 north of Castle near I.X.L. Another residence immediately to the south sustained minor damage when a tree fell on the corner of the house. The house's owner said that she witnessed a white funnel about 100 yards to the northeast. Several barns were completely destroyed, leaving only hay bales that were once covered by the barns.
A house in Okemah was struck by lightning, igniting the back portion of the house and destroying the back portion of the residence.
There were several reports of large hail from Okemah to Clearview. There were several reports of damaging and severe thunderstorm winds from Castle, east-southeast through Okemah, to Weleetka. Starting in Castle, many trees were damaged, including a 125-foot tall cottonwood tree that was uprooted. Down the road in Okemah, numerous trees, tree limbs and several power lines were blown down. Three miles east of Okemah, an Oklahoma mesonet site measured a wind gust to 80 miles an hour at 715 PM CDT. In Weleetka, large trees were blown down.
