A strong warm front and favourable wind shear aloft allowed for some thunderstorms to become strong to locally severe across eastern New York on the evening of July 29. Thunderstorms deposited dime to nickel size hail at Perth, Fulton County as well as Billings in Dutchess county.

A strong warm front and favourable wind shear aloft allowed for some thunderstorms to become strong to locally severe across eastern New York on the evening of July 29. Thunderstorms deposited dime to nickel size hail at Perth, Fulton County as well as Billings in Dutchess county. Thunderstorms produced destructive wind gusts in Gloversville, Fulton county as trees were blown down. Power lines were knocked down at St. Johnsville in Montgomery county. In addition, the storms produced heavy rainfall in excess of an inch in 15 to 30 minutes in some localities. No flooding was reported.
