As a cluster of thunderstorms moved southeast, they produced torrential rain that flooded streets, low-lying areas, and poor drainage areas. Rainfall rates were estimated from 1 to 2 inches per hour. In general, 2 to 3 inches of rain occurred. Specifically, 2.85 inches fell at Wading River and 2.00 inches fell at Westhampton.
