The hailstorm began in northwest Chase County just north of Lamar and travelled through the county to Wauneta, passing along the south edge of Imperial. According to newspaper reports, damage estimates included 10,000 acres of wheat and 50,000 acres of corn. The wheat was a total loss while losses in corn were estimated to be 11 to 16 percent production decreases.
