One to three inches of rain fell on the Big Blue River basin early on 7/1/99. The Big Blue River was already running high due to heavy rain in late June and this additional rain caused the river to reach flood stage once again at Crete. The river reached a crest of 22.92 feet at 600 pm cst on 7/2/99 at Crete, flood stage is 18 feet. The flooding affected mainly agricultural lowlands.
