An area of low pressure over Minnesota brought the second storm in 2 days to northwest Minnesota. Significant accumulations of ice brought down power lines and trees, causing hundreds of people to live without power for several days. Icicles formed on many surfaces, some 2 to 4 inches long. City workers were kept busy for weeks, cutting and hauling away damaged trees. This ice storm brought back memories of the ice storm of early April 1997.
