The synoptic situation remained much the same as they were the previous night with the exception that the warm front was a little farther north than the previous night. A large mesoscale convective complex formed once again to the northwest of Iowa. The difference this time was that the entire system lifted northward. into South Dakota and Minnesota. As a result, only the far northwest part of Iowa was affected by the severe weather. As the system brushed northwest Iowa, severe thunderstorms produced hail in Palo Alto County, though the hail was only slightly larger than severe criteria. The southeast edge of the complex brushed a small part of north central Iowa. Several trees were downed just to the northeast of Northwood by the high winds. A short time earlier, high winds moved through Winnebago County and caused damage in the Buffalo Center area. The outflow boundary moved south and blasted into Hancock County. A hog confinement building was destroyed by high winds north of Eagle Grove.
