A weak cold front moved into Iowa from the northwest during the afternoon of the 16th. Thunderstorms formed along the cold front during the late afternoon. Though most of them were not severe, the airmass was very unstable. As a result, one cell produced a brief spin-up tornado southwest of Corning in Adams. No damage was reported as it touched down in open country.
