A large area of thunderstorms formed during the previous night over the eastern Dakotas, into central and southern Minnesota. The thunderstorms turned southeast during the late night hours and began to sink into Iowa. Though the storms were weaker than they had been during the night, a couple lines of stronger storms made it into Iowa. One storm produced hail nearly an inch in diameter in Cerro Gordo County near Clear Lake. The storm was not severe for long and dissipated quickly after dumping the hail.
