What happened

The episode as NWS DMX wrote it up.

A strong warm front extended from low pressure over northwest Kansas, east into Missouri during the afternoon of the 21st. Strong warm advection was taking place over Iowa during the day. A thunderstorm complex formed over Nebraska during the morning. This complex moved east during the day and entered western Iowa during the early afternoon hours. The storms weakened as they moved into Iowa and away from the best support aloft. Still, they were able to produce three quarter to nearly one inch diameter hail as they moved over Crawford County.
