Lightning sparked a wild fire that scorched 36,000 acres of sagebrush and range land. The Cedar Butte fire forced the evacuation of the residents from the small community of Atomic City, although no structures were lost. State highways 20 and 26 were temporarily closed when wind driven fire crossed them. Cost to contain the blaze was estimated at $270,000.
