Flood in Guam, December 5 to 7, 1999
Unusually high tides were experienced on Pohnpei. This caused flooding in some of the houses along the coastline.

Deaths and injuries are direct and indirect together, as the offices filed them. Damage is property and crops in the dollars of the year, not adjusted for inflation, and only where an office estimated it.
What happened

Unusually high tides were experienced on Pohnpei. This caused flooding in some of the houses along the coastline. Some of the dwellings were reported to have water flood their low levels. Houses built on 10 foot high cement pilings were high enough to escape the flooding. Satellite data (TOPEX-POSEIDON) indicate a higher than average sea level in the Pohnpei area. This combined with the new moon (which occurred on the morning of the 8th) could account for this coastal flooding.
