A strong warm front and favourable wind shear aloft allowed for some thunderstorms to become strong to locally severe across northwestern Connecticut on the evening of July 29. Thunderstorms deposited dime size hail at Cornwall and Litchfield in Litchfield County. In addition the storms produced torrential rainfall which resulted in six to eight inches of water that rapidly covered roadways in the town of Litchfield.
