Rainfall was well short of normal across Litchfield County during the month of April. Bakersfield reported 0.95 inches which was 3.09 inches below normal and Bulls Bridge had 1.23, 2.93 inches below normal. The combination of low rainfall, along with frequent gusty winds, turned the underbrush into tinder. This scenario led to some brush fires during the month across Northwest Connecticut.
