Damaging Wind in Colorado, August 11, 1999
Over three square miles of old growth forest along the headwaters of North Thompson Creek in the White River National Forest was leveled by strong thunderstorm outflow winds which were funneled between two mountain ridges. The downed trees were primarily Engelmann Spruces and Aspens which were snapped off at various levels; from just above ground level up to 40 feet above the ground.
