Lightning struck a metal awning at a large home supply store and traveled down a metal pole into the parking lot shocking a man who was loading lumber under the awning. The man was temporarily blinded by the lightning strike but was able to transport himself to a nearby hospital. Doctors kept him overnight but he displayed no serious injuries other than a small exit wound on his left ear. The telephone system in the store was damaged by the lightning strike.
