Lightning Strikes in Wisconsin, June 29, 1998
Scattered late afternoon thunderstorms over southcentral Wisconsin generated lighting strikes that resulted in damage. In Lafayette County, lighting struck a Shullsburg church steeple's lightning rod and jumped to a nearby telephone pole.

Scattered late afternoon thunderstorms over southcentral Wisconsin generated lighting strikes that resulted in damage. In Lafayette County, lighting struck a Shullsburg church steeple's lightning rod and jumped to a nearby telephone pole. The church steeple was scorched, but there was no fire. The telephone pole was shattered and then 2 TV sets in nearby homes were damaged. In Orfordville, lightning struck a fuse box on a pole, reducing voltage to 4 nearby businesses and one home. A couple phone lines, home PC's, and a satellite dish were damaged.
