A strong and intensifying low pressure system moved northeast, passing to the south and southeast of Cape Cod. It brought strong northeast winds to coastal Rhode Island and inland as far north as the Providence area. There were several reports of peak wind gusts to 40 mph or more, including: Block Island, 51 mph; Newport, 47 mph; and Providence, T.F. Green Airport, 44 mph. There were no reports of damage. Rainfall totals of around 1 inch were reported with this storm.
