Damaging Wind in Pennsylvania, June 1, 1998
The same squall line that dropped the tornado in the extreme northeast part of the city also produced scattered pockets of wind damage throughout Philadelphia. The wind gusted to 71 mph at the Philadelphia International Airport and damaged a couple of planes.

The same squall line that dropped the tornado in the extreme northeast part of the city also produced scattered pockets of wind damage throughout Philadelphia. The wind gusted to 71 mph at the Philadelphia International Airport and damaged a couple of planes. The wind also gusted to 62 mph at Northeast Philadelphia Airport. Trees were uprooted along a four block stretch in the Chestnut Hill Section. Trees and tree limbs were also knocked down in the Olney Section. At least one vehicle was damaged. PECO Energy reported 34,000 homes and businesses lost power during the height of the storm within the city, most along the path of the tornado. About 5,000 customers still had no power during the evening of the 1st.
