Strong thunderstorms moved southeastward out of Kansas late on the afternoon of May 7 on the back side of an upper level weather system in northwesterly flow aloft. For the most part, these storms remained below severe limits, but one storm strengthened enough to cause a report of nickel-sized hail west of Jay.
