Heavy thunderstorm rain and rapidly rising streams triggered flooding along Route 13 near Bellville on Saturday. Water depths were reported at least three feet deep in some spots. One man was rescued from his car. Saturated soil and high stream levels responded quickly to another round of rain on Sunday and caused flooding along secondary roads, flooding of basements and damage to crops. Several roads and bridges washed away and roads remained closed for several days in some areas. The county was declared a state and federal disaster area.
