A slow moving cold front became stationary over central North Carolina during the early morning hours of the 19th. Heavy rain developed near the frontal boundary and moved slowly across Montgomery, Moore, and Randolph counties then into areas from Siler City and Raleigh northeast to Durham, Chapel Hill, Oxford, Henderson, and Warrenton.

A slow moving cold front became stationary over central North Carolina during the early morning hours of the 19th. Heavy rain developed near the frontal boundary and moved slowly across Montgomery, Moore, and Randolph counties then into areas from Siler City and Raleigh northeast to Durham, Chapel Hill, Oxford, Henderson, and Warrenton. Numerous roads had to be closed in Chatham, Wake, Durham, and Vance counties. Rainfall amounts up to 4 inches fell on already saturated ground.
