Significant flooding occurred during February along the Neuse River from Clayton to Smithfield and Goldsboro. The river crested at 3.5 feet above flood stage at Clayton on February 18th, 4.1 feet above flood stage at Smithfield on February 18th, and 8.4 feet above flood stage at Goldsboro on February 10th. Flooding at Goldsboro continued from January 19th through the month of February reaching several crests.
