Flash Flooding occurred in three southern Piedmont and western Sandhills counties during the early morning hours as strong, slow moving thunderstorms moved east across the region. The flooding affected mostly rural areas of Stanly, Montgomery, and Moore counties.

Flash Flooding occurred in three southern Piedmont and western Sandhills counties during the early morning hours as strong, slow moving thunderstorms moved east across the region. The flooding affected mostly rural areas of Stanly, Montgomery, and Moore counties. Several roads had to be closed due to flooding. The areas that were affected the most were the Locust to Albemarle areas east to Lake Tillary and Robbins.
