Tornado and Damaging Winds in New York, June 26, 1998
Low pressure touched off a cluster of locally severe thunderstorms on the evening of the 26th. One thunderstorm in Ulster County spawned an F1 tornado in the vicinity of Mongaup Mountain.

Low pressure touched off a cluster of locally severe thunderstorms on the evening of the 26th. One thunderstorm in Ulster County spawned an F1 tornado in the vicinity of Mongaup Mountain. This tornado had a non-continuous damage path that only included massive tree damage. Other severe thunderstorms in Fulton and Montgomery Counties downed trees. Lightning from a thunderstorm injured three men at the Harley Davidson rendezvous at Duanesburg in Schenectady County. The injuries were minor.
