Flooding in New York, June 14 to 15, 1998
Over the weekend of June 12 through 14, a slow moving low pressure system just off the southern New England coast produced very heavy rains across much of the Catskills and eastern Mohawk Valley. Three day precipitation totals reached 8 to10 inches in some locations.

Over the weekend of June 12 through 14, a slow moving low pressure system just off the southern New England coast produced very heavy rains across much of the Catskills and eastern Mohawk Valley. Three day precipitation totals reached 8 to10 inches in some locations. This produced minor flooding along the Schoharie River in Schoharie, western Schenectady and Montgomery Counties. In Schoharie County at Breakabeen, the river crested at 10.7 feet. Flood stage is 10 feet. Bielfeldt and Redling Roads were flooded in Schoharie County. In Montgomery County at Burtonsville, the river crested at 6.4 feet. Flood stage is 6 feet. Two families were evacuated for a short period of time at Lost Valley.
