A squall line of severe thunderstorms produced scattered pockets of downed trees and wires throughout Monmouth County and caused the most problems in the western part of the county. Two boaters were also tossed into the Navasink River and were rescued.

A squall line of severe thunderstorms produced scattered pockets of downed trees and wires throughout Monmouth County and caused the most problems in the western part of the county. Two boaters were also tossed into the Navasink River and were rescued. About 16,000 of the 42,000 power outages in the GPU service area occurred in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Freehold was hardest hit with power outages affecting a large part of the borough. In Rumson Borough, about a dozen trees were toppled and crushed two vehicles. The squall line downed numerous trees in Howell, Manalapan, Marlboro and Red Bank. A municipal tent was flipped over in Bradley Beach. Downed wires and/or trees closed roadways in Aberdeen, Middletown, Shrewsbury and Tinton Falls.
